The Sweet Home School District facilities team, Gerding Builders and a number of subcontractors are busy getting Foster Elementary, Holley Elementary and Sweet Home Junior High School ready for students to return on Tuesday, September 3.
A massive amount of work has been accomplished at the schools this summer.
Foster and Holley Elementary Schools
Foster and Holley’s seismic upgrades are complete, new security vestibule entrances are finished, roofs have been replaced and new energy efficient windows have been installed. There are also numerous other improvements that have been made inside the schools that we can’t wait for students and staff to see.
While an extraordinary amount of work has been accomplished over the summer at Holley and Foster, some finishing work will need to be completed within the first few months of school. Each school has plans in place to accommodate the work while delivering educational programming. We will work as a team through this remarkable time as we watch our schools transform into updated, welcoming learning environments.
Sweet Home Junior High School
Work on the Junior High school’s new entrance, office area, auxiliary gym and cafeteria will continue into the spring of 2020.
The parking lot and bus loop are almost ready to be paved and construction crews are finishing the school’s new sidewalks.
Most Junior High classrooms have been refurbished this summer. Glulam beams supporting the roof structure are being strengthened, new energy efficient windows are being installed and many classrooms have been painted.
It’s great to see the improvements that are underway. Students and staff will benefit for decades to come by having safer and more secure learning environments.
We will schedule open houses at a later date so the community can see the school renovations.
